IN TONIGHT’S RANSOM NOTE.. SOUTHERN COMFORT. TODAY THE SEC VOTED TO LIFT ITS BAN ON SELLING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT ATHLETIC EVENTS. SCHOOLS WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO SELL BEER AND WINE.. NO HARD STUFF.. ALSO.. YOU CAN ONLY BUY ONE DRINK AT A TIME.. AND NO SALES AT ALL AFTER THE THIRD QUARTER. NOW IT’S UP TO EACH COLLEGE TO DECIDE WHETHER TO SELL OR NOT. ALABAMA SAYS IT’S GOING TO HOLD OFF FOR NOW.. AND SCHOOLS LIKE OLE MISS AND MISSISSIPPI STATE HAVE SOME STATE LAWS TO WORK AROUND. OF COURSE, THE U OF M HAS BEEN SELLING ALCOHOL AT ITS GAMES FOR YEARS.. SO MEMPHIS FANS ARE WONDERING WHAT TOOK THE SEC SO LONG? BUT MOST EXPECT A MAJORITY OF SEC SCHOOLS WILL START SELLING THIS FALL. AND THE REASON IS SIMPLE. MONEY! THIS WILL BE A HUGE REVENUE STREAM FOR UNIVERSITIES.. WHICH ARE ALL DEALING WITH FALLING ATTENDANCE THESE DAYS..
